Isleta El Espino is an intimate destination where you can escape the hustle of everyday life. Unwind by the pool, indulge in a relaxing massage or yoga session, or slip the kayaks into the lake for a sunset excursion around the isletas. 


LOCATION

Isleta El Espino is an eco-lux boutique hotel on a private island in Lake Nicaragua with views of the lake and volcano, a plunge pool, yoga deck, restaurant and bar, organic gardens, fruit trees, kayaks, and on-site spa treatments. The lodge produces its own solar power and filters water from the lake.


FOOD

Meals are lovingly prepared by our kitchen staff and every meal includes fresh, seasonal, and local ingredients, many of which are grown on the island. We cater to a variety of dietary preferences including vegetarian and vegan. However meat, fish, eggs, and dairy are also available. 


Day 1: Arrival and welcome

Our boat will pick you up at Marina Cocibolca for a scenic 10 minute ride to the island. Settle in with a welcome drink, take a tour of the organic gardens, and meet the resident chickens. Enjoy a dip in the pool and take in the view before savoring a sunset dinner overlooking the lake.


Day 2: Chocolate Workshop and Spa day

Try your hand at making a special treat from cacao beans grown on the slopes of the Mombacho volcano. During this chocolate making workshop you’ll learn the process required to make chocolate from fermented organic cacao beans. Enjoy your creation for dessert after tonight's dinner.

In the afternoon you’ll be treated to a relaxing 1 hour Swedish massage by our professional masseuses. (additional spa treatments available with upgrade)


Day 3: Isleta Nature Tour 

Your day will begin with an early morning nature tour of the isletas with a certified ornithologist. Learn about the local flora, fauna, and endemic bird species while spotting the abundant wildlife around the isletas. Coffee and fruit will be served prior to departure and a hearty breakfast will be ready upon your return. 

The rest of your day can be spent at your leisure. Take out the kayaks, lounge by the pool, or enjoy a shady nap in a hammock.


Day 4: Day of Leisure

Spend your last day on the island doing nothing at all or book an activity, excursion, or additional spa treatment. 

We offer traditional net fishing with a local just off the island, guided hike on Mombacho volcano for amazing views, zipline tour over cacao and coffee plantations for the adventurous, Granada city walking tour to experience local history and culture, artisan village tour for handicraft shopping, or ceramic studio workshop.

Day 5: Departure   

Check out from Isleta El Espino and continue your journey in Nicaragua or travel home. We can book your ground transportation to your next destination and hold your luggage until you are ready to depart.

After leaving from the island, nearby Granada is the perfect place to explore for those who want to experience more excitement with bustling cafes and shops within the colonial town. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, go for a hike in the cloud forest of nearby Mombacho Volcano or zip-line back down over the coffee farms on its slope.
